![]() The Center for Marine Structures and Geotechnique and the Center for Infrastructure and Constructed Facilities (CICF) are two organized research units within the Department of Ocean Engineering under the guidance of Drs. D.V. Reddy and M. Arockiasamy, with research in the areas of marine structures interfaced with marine materials, structures, geotechnical engineering, and infrastructure of marine constructed facilities. Structures-related courses at the undergraduate level with senior design involving marine structures would provide sufficient background for the graduate studies in the area of ocean engineering and offshore structures. The available graduate courses include advanced mechanics of materials in ocean engineering, offshore structures, ocean structural dynamics, finite element methods, marine geotechnical engineering, theory of plates including ship structures, and coastal structures. The past and recent areas of the Centers' research encompass broad aspects of marine concrete durability, knowleged-based expert systems applied to structures, transportation structures, advanced high strength composites, structural dynamics, stochastic modeling of earthquakes, earth structures, foundation scour, sediment transport mechanics, and analysis of environmental systems. |
