Scholarships & Awards


Raymond McAllister Scholarship

Academic Scholarship offered in the fall to:

  • 2 students with the highest GPA’s/SAT scores among entering freshmen - $250 each for 2005-2006.

  • 2 students with the highest GPA among entering transfer students - $250 each for 2005-2006.

Denys Akhurst Ocean Engineering Scholarship

Academic Scholarship from an endowed fund awarded during fall student welcome event to an entering OE junior with the highest FAU GPA (Based on completion of and performance in Fundamentals of Engineering, Calulus I, II, III, Eng Graphics, C for Engineers, Chem I & Physics I and III, Statics, Intro to Logic Design, Diff Eq) - $600.


J. M. Rubin Ocean Engineering Scholarship

Academic Scholarship of $2,500 each, awarded from an endowed fund in fall semester to two students entering OE sophomore year with highest GPA after completing 30 credits in the program - $2,500 each for 2005-2006.


Ocean Engineering Award

Academic award offered in fall semester for most advancement of FAU GPA - $500 for 2005-2006.

(Based on completion of and performance in Dynamics, Vibrations, Fluids I, OE Lab, Thermodynamics, Strength of Materials, Acoustics I, Structural Analysis I, Data Analysis, Circuits or equivalent, Electronics I or equivalent, Materials I, Marine Topics, Fabrication of OE systems, Engineering Math II, Oceanography coursework).


Charles Stephan Awards

Two faculty awards offered for excellence in academic achievement at Spring graduation, one to a graduating senior and the other to a graduating MS or PhD student - $1,000 each for 2005-2006.

  1. Senior with the highest graduating GPA/other (e.g. 80% Overall GPA, 20% for achievement in Senior Design Project).

  2. MS or PhD student with the highest graduating GPA/other (e.g. 70% Overall GPA, 30% for achievement in Thesis work).

William Tessin Award

Student-recognized leadership award offered during spring graduation (Personal qualities 50%, Practical Abilities 25%, GPA 25%, - needs senior status) - $500 for 2005-2006.


SNAME Scholarship

Academic Scholarship awarded by SNAME to three SNAME student members enrolled in Ocean Engineering with the highest overall GPA’s - $1,000 each.


Ocean Engineering McAllister Loan

- a no-interest loan based on financial need.
